Major Gilbert King was the son of Gilbert King and Sarah French.
He gained the rank of Major in the 5th (Roy Irish) Dragoons. He fought in the Battle of Quebec in 1759.
He married a cousin, Rebecca King, daughter of John King and Alice Mahon, in April 1771.
