Biography

Jeremiah "Grant" Kingsbury was born on March 20, 1865, in Towanda, Pennsylvania, his father, Adolph, was 33 and his mother, Sarah, was 27. He married Alice Edith Foote and they had one daughter together. He then married Ruby Wilbur in 1933. He died on March 24, 1944, in Loma Linda, California, at the age of 79, and was buried in Fallbrook, California.^[1]

Death of J. Grant Kingsbury Closes Career of Active Service

Following a lingering illness at Loma Linda Hospital, J. Grant Kingsbury died last Friday. Private funeral services were held at the Fallbrook Masonic Cemetery on Tuesday with Rev. James Holmes conducting the rites.

For 23 years Mr. Kingsbury had resided in Fallbrook taking active and prominent part in many enterprises. He had been a director of the Fallbrook First National Bank, member of the Fallbrook Citrus Association board of directors for eight years, having served as president of that board one year, director of the County Farm Bureau board, and president of the local farm bureau and a director of the Fallbrook Irrigation District board. He was associated with the Fallbrook Masonic Lodge, was a 32nd degree Mason, and a Shriner at the Al-Bahr temple at San Diego.

The holdings of the Red Mountain Ranch he purchased in 1921 and continued his interest in it until more recently, when it was sold and he built his new home nearer town where he has been residing.

Born in Pennsylvania, seventy-nine years ago, Mr. Kingsbury was early connected with engineering projects, of mechanical nature. As one of his inventions, the Grant riveting machine, is in use in many war plants. He was president of the Grant Manufacturing and Machine Co., of Bridgeport, Conn., at the time of his death, and a life member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.

Close relatives who survive him are: his widow, Mrs. Ruby Kingsbury, a brother in Los Angeles, Lem Kingsbury, and a sister in Florida, Mrs. Helen Coolbaugh.^[2]
