Margaret was born about 1848. She was the daughter of John Kingston and Sarah Burch.

Other Household Members were his wife Sarah Kingston 44 Devonport, Devon, and their children Mary Kingston 21 Queenstown, Ireland, dressmaker, Jane A Kingston 17 Devonport, parasol coverer, William Kingston 15 Stonehouse, Devon, umbrella work, Robert Kingston 13 Whitechapel, umbrella work, Edward Kingston 10 St Georges East, Middlesex, scholar, Sarah Kingston 7 Whitechapel, scholar, and Margaret Kingston 3 Whitechapel. Their visitor [mother in law] Agnes Burch 84 Modbury, Devon, widow, pensioner. ^[1]

And born at London, dead Robert, now in New Zealand Edward, now in Fitzroy Melbourne Sarah, now in Adelaide Margaret. Father was a Roman Catholic, was a dock labourer, and never had any property. Letters record that finding his baptism certificate for this examination was difficult because of misstatement of date of baptism (recorded in 1895 as 2 March 1832) William Kingston son of John Kingston and Sarah Burch lawfully married, born 23 April 1835 baptised 10 May 1835 godparents John McGuire and Henrietta Ballett. ^[4]
