Biography

Married in 1949

John Joseph Kingston Jr. of Somerset, formerly of East Bridgewater, passed away on Wednesday, April 26. He was 92 year old.

Family: He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Wanda (Danksewicz) and their three children: Jeffery and his wife Alison of Brooks Maine, Gary and his wife Linda of Taunton, Mass. and Maryann Geppner and her husband Daniel of Berkley, Mass. He also has three grandchildren: Michael Kingston of Millbury and his wife Carla, Meghan (Geppner) Drewniak and her husband Eric of East Taunton and Brianna Geppner and her very good friend Cam Mongeon.

He was the only son of John Joseph Kingston and Ida Mae McCordick.

Life: He was born in East Bridgewater, Massachusetts on September 13, 1924 and grew up on Central Street. He attended East Bridgewater High School, and later joined the Navy. He had two older sisters, the late Eleanor Ellis (Bing) who was married to Kenneth Ellis and the late Alice Hudson, who was married to Charlie Hudson. During the 2nd World War he served in the Navy Seabees where he saw action in the Pacific Theatre. After the war he worked at the Carver Cotton Gin in East Bridgewater. Around 1960 he began working at the Brockton Edison Company.

He retired in 1985 and enjoyed 30 years with his wife and family. They moved to Maine where he bought a cottage, which was enjoyed by all the family growing up. He and his wife Wanda split their time between Maine and their home in Florida. During these years, they traveled and went on cruises. They later moved to New Hampshire where they took pleasure in going to the lakes and mountains. Three years ago, John and his wife moved to Somerset, Mass. to be closer to his family. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, and watching the Red Sox.
