Charles D Kirby was born in April 29th 1899 in Alabama, his father, Benjamin, was 30 and his mother, Mary, was 27. He had seven brothers and three sisters. Charles married Effie before 1920 they had a number of children including Lorene Nelson and Faye Charles died June 1, 1928 by a gun shoot wound sustained in his barn. An inquest verdict was death was ruled a suicide. The family believed it was accidental. Charles died on June 1st 1928 and is interred at Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery Douglasville Douglas County Georgia.

Charles' death was a shooting in a barn. He kept a pistol in the barn to shoot the rats. He was found at the bottom of the loft, dead from a gun shot. Charles was a farmer. At the time of his death, he resided at Rt. #2 Winston, Georgia. His family believed his death was an accidental shooting since he always went up to the hay loft to feed the animals before dark. Verdict at inquest was that his death was ruled a suicide. He was 29 years old at the time of his death, June 1. Charles was married to Effie, they had a son named Nelson and a number of other children.
