Biography

Marietta, aka Mary Etta, L. Kirby was born on March 21, 1883 in Milford, Worcester, Massachusetts. She was the daughter of Timothy and Bedelia (Henniff) Kirby.

Marietta married Dirrell Daniel Sample on August 27, 1919 in Newcastle, Lincoln Co., Maine. They both were noted as teachers in their marriage record. Marietta and Dirrell had one child, named Lois Kirby.

Marietta attended Boston University where she earned a masters in foreign languages and taught French.

Marietta passed away in Augusta, Maine. She is buried in New Harbor, Maine.
