While Alexander did not have to be of age when his father deeded him land, he did have to be 21 in 1771, he sold it back to his father. This puts Alexander's birth year before 1750.

Page 245.--21st May, 1771. James Kirk and Jean ( ) to his son Alexander Kirk, Ł40, 185 acres, part of 400 acres where said Kirk now lives. Delivered: Alex. Kirk, March Court, 1774. (Chalkley Vol. III:510)
He married Mary Edmiston, daughter of Mathew Edmiston before 1778. She is named in her father's 1790 Will. Matthew Edmiston left his estate to sons James, William, and David; to grandson Mathew Kirk, daughter Mary Kirk..... Among the witnesses are John Kirk and Jean Kirk. (John Kirk being the son of James Kirk and Jean Kirk being James' widow.)
Since Alexander's wife Mary was a daughter of Matthew Edmiston, it is not possible that Alexander's mother Agnes could also be Edmiston's daughter. If so, then Alexander would have married his aunt.
In 1779, Alexander received a certificate for services as a soldier in an Independent Corps an the expedition under Colonel Boquet in 1764.. (Chalkley's Vol.I:209)[4]
Alexander Kirk can be found on the 1800 Tax List in Montgomery Co., Kentucky. (Only Kirk on list from Montgomery KY.)
In 1802, Alexander and his wife Mary of Montgomery County, Kentucky, joined Richard Jones and Anna his wife, of the same County, and John McGill and Jean his wife of Franklin County, Kentucky, in making a power of attorney to William Edmiston to confirm a prior sale and make a deed for land of Mathew Edmiston to John Moore. (Augusta Co. VA Deed Book 2A:50-54)
Based on the following, it would appear that Alexander Kirk died in Montgomery County, Kentucky sometime before November 1804 and that his wife, Mary Ann, survived him.
Will Book A, pgs 168-171 -- gives the extensive asset inventory of Alexander Kirk, dec'd., as presented by Mathew Kirk. This inventory, completed November 15, 1804, was presented to the December 1804 Montgomery Court. This would indicate that Alexander died prior to November 1804.
