Biography

William was the son of Isaac Kirk and Martha Ann.

He is found in the 1850 and 1860 Censuses with his parents.

On 27 Feb 1878 he married Sallie Jaggers in Franklin County, Arkansas. His age was given as 28. His bride was age 24.[1][2]

William and Sallie and their family are found in the 1900 Census for east White Oak Township, Franklin, Arkansas. He was a farmer, age 52; he had been married 22 years. He was born in Arkansas, his father in Tennessee, his mother in Illinois. Sallie Kirk was b Apr 1856 in Tennessee; her parents were b. in Tennessee also. She had been married 22 years, mother of 7, 6 now living. Daughter Pearl M. Kirk was age 19, b Apr 1881 and single, born in Tennessee, father b in Tennessee, mother in Arkansas. Son Ansel Kirk was age 12, b Apr 1888 in Arkansas, father b Arkansas, mother b Tennessee. Daughter Bessie Kirk was age 10 b Mar 1890 in Arkansas, father b Arkansas, mother b Tennessee. Son Harrison Kirk was age 8, b Dec 1891 in Arkansas, father b Arkansas, mother b Tennessee. Daughter Ofelia Kirk was age 6, b Sep 1893 in Arkansas, father b in Arkansas, mother b in Tennessee.[3]

In 1910 William was living in White Oak, Franklin, Arkansas with his children Bessie, Harrison, and Martha. Martha was age 15; it's not clear if she is the Ofelia Kirk of the 1900 Census. With William and the children was his mother-in-law Mary Campbell, age 80, widow, birthplace unknown, birthplaces of parents unknown.[4]
