Biography
Sabina Kirk was born at Whittington Moor, near Newbold, Derbyshire, England in 1850.[1][2][3]
In 1851, Sabina lived with her family at Sheffield Road, Albert Place, Newbold, Derbyshire. Stephen Kirk, 43, brickmaker, wife Mary Kirk, 43, children George H (17), Anne M (13), Sarah E (7), Mary A (3), Sabina (6 mths) [2]
On the 1861 census, Stephen and Mary Kirk were living at Wilton Gardens, Kimberworth, Yorkshire, with their children Anne M (24), Sabina (11), and Samuel (9).[4]
In 1871, Sabina was a domestic servant, in the household of Samuel and Elizabeth Baggalley at Church Lane, Dronfield, Derbyshire.[5]
She married William Barker at Christchurch, Pittsmore, Yorkshire on 8th September 1872.[6]
On the 1881 census, William and Sabina lived at Dronfield, Derbyshire, with three sons.[7]
In 1891, a widowed Sabina lived at 2 Islay Place, Workington, Cumberland, with her five sons and one daughter.[8]
The 1901 census records Sabina living at Western Place, Workington, with three sons and her daughter still at home.[3]
On the 1911 census, she is now living in the household of her son Henry Washington Barker, his wife Fanny, their four children and Sabina's youngest son John.[9][10]
Research Notes
A search for Sabina Baker after 1911 returned a death in Lincolnshire in 1935. However, without some other source to confirm this is the correct Sabina, I was reluctant to enter it as a definite fact.[11]
