Note: 1941: Mrs. David Kirkey, 69, died at her home at Racket River Bridge at 4 o'clock this morning. She had been confined to her bed since Sunday although she had been in frail health since last October when she submitted to a serious operation. Mrs. Kirkey was born Nellie Kirkey, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Kirkey, February 12, 1872, about two miles from Massena on the South Grasse River Road. On July 3, 1895, she married David Kirkey, who survives her. They were second cousins. Besides her husband, Mrs. Kirkey is survived by four sons, Clarence and Harold Kirkey of Massena and Arthur and Lloyd Kirkey of Black River;. also four daughters, Mrs. Clarence Jarvis, and Mrs. Ida Worden and Miss Geneva Kirkey of Massena and Mrs. George Wilton of Great Bend;. 17 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Three sisters also survive. They are Mrs. Eva Mulvey of Carthage, Mrs. Roy Carpenter of Coulee City, WA and Mrs. Fred Ackerman of Alberta. Massena Observer. Tuesday, March 11, 1941. ^[2]
