Biography

This profile is part of the Kirkland Name Study.

Bessie Lee Kirkland was born in October of 1900. She was the daughter of James Kirkland and Delilah Chiles. She is listed with her parents on the 1910 Census[1] in Monroe, Tennessee. She was first married to John A. Frye on January 3, 1920.[2] They are listed together on the 1930 Census[3] and the 1940 Census.[4] Sometime after the death of her first husband in 1968; she was remarried to Verne Wilson Bohnke (1901–1988). She passed away in March of 1975 at the age of 74 and is buried in Grandview Cemetery in Maryville, Blount County, Tennessee.[5]
