Ludie died 24 May 1956 in Houston County, Alabama[6] and was buried in the Concord Baptist Church Cemetery; Henry County, Alabama.[7]
Research Notes:
Between 1900 and 1910 Ludie lost 5 children who didn't survive past infancy; nine were born with four living in the 1910 U S Census. Two of the living were born prior to 1900.[8]
The Dothan, Alabama, City Directory, 1959 inexplicably ran Ludie's name and address long after her decease in 1956.[9]

The Montgomery Advertiser for May 25, 1956 carried an obituary for Mrs. Ludie L. Brackin. It read: "Brackin, Mrs. Ludie L. 78 of Dothan, Rt. 4, died in a Dothan hospital Thursday. Survivors include the husband S. R. Brackin, six sons: R. F. Brackin, Gilford, N.C.; T. D. Brackin, Dothan; B. C. Brackin, Owensboro, Ky; B. E. Brackin, L. F. Brackin, and W. C. Brackin, all of Dothan: two daughters: Mrs. Valita SHelton, Mrs. Lloyd Wood, both of Dothan;; 16 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren; two brothers, Plas Kirkland, Donaldsville, Ga; Cas Kirkland, Headland; three sisters, Mrs. Rosa Brackin, Dothan; Mrs. Olive Brackin, Mrs. Sarah Posey, both of Headland; several nieces and nephews. Funeral will be at 4 pm Friday from the Concord Baptist Church with the Rev J. F. Kelly and the Rev. Oland Riley officiating. Burial follows in church cemetery.
