Name: Julia Catherine Kirkland

Julia was born 7 Mar 1874[1] in the state of Alabama, USA the daughter of Armstead and Julia Ann (Wells) Kirkland.[2] While it should be noted that the 1900 US Census cites a birth date of Nov 1872, that source for birthdates is often proven wrong.

Julia was wed to Moses Lafayette Brackin on 6 Jan 1895 in Henry County, Alabama.[3][4] The year 1900 found them on her husband's farm in Newville, Henry, Alabama with a 4 year old daughter; Vassie Brackin.[5] They remained there through at least 1920[6][7] before moving to Georgia by the 1930 US Census.[8] While it is quite clear from the relationships on these census records that we are following the movements of Moses and Julia (Kirkland) Brackin, the people who enumerated them had a horrific time with the spellings of their names.

Julia passed away on 7 Oct 1931 in Seminole County, Georgia and was buried in the Olive Grove Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery; Iron City, Seminole County, Georgia.[9] There her husband Moses was buried just a few years later.[10]
