Mahala was born in Alabama [1-2, 4, 6-9] in 1845 to Benjamin[5] and Sarah Kirkland. She married Josiah Kirkland in 1863 in Henry County, Alabama [3]. They had 7 children though 2 died young. Mahala died in 1920 and was buried in Brackin/Kirkland Cemetery in Henry County, Alabama [10].
