Hubert was born in 1837 to John Kirkland & Isabella Calder who married in St Quivox on 14 Aug 1836 - 612/1 20/303. His siblings were - Elizabeth 1839, George 1840, Janet 1842, Ann 1845, Isabella 1848, John 1853. He first married Margaret Armour who died within a year of marriage probably as a result of childbirth. Perhaps the child Margaret Armour Kirkland was hers. He then married Mary ARMOUR and they had Agnes 1861, John 1863 and Hubert 1865.
