Biography

This profile is part of the Kirkland Name Study.

Jasper was born 18 Mar. 1867[1] in Henry County, Alabama, USA the son of Armstead Kirkland and Julia (Wells) Kirkland. He worked on his father's farm in his childhood.[2] He married Sarah Jane Baker 30 July 1889[3] but by 1900 he was listed as divorced and was living with his widowed mother Julia (mistranscribed as John in her record).[4] It is not known whether he had issue from his marriage.

In 1935 he was living with his brother Aris Armstead Kirkland in Florida (where he was incorrectly listed as a husband to Aris' wife).[5] Jasper passed away in 5 Nov.1950 in Holmes County, Florida and was buried in the Hurricane Creek Cemetery, Holmes County, Florida.[6][7]
