David was born Oct 1879 to William Kirkland and Laura (Hudson) Kirkland[1]
1880 Census shows David as being 3, that puts his birth year as 1877 versus 1879 as indicated on the Draft Card. David 3, Carrie 1 and 'Kirkland' 2 months. [2]
He married Emma Elizabeth Ruis in 22 Jul 1900.[3],
1910 census shows Emma age 29, married 10 years. They had 3 children at the time Mary A. (9), Clarence R. (6), and James W.(1).[4]
1920 - Census shows Clarence (16), James (11), Julia (8), Jessie (6). Mary would've been 19.[5]
1930- Census shows he's married to Catherine Kirkland age 34, Emmie is no longer showing up so the assumption is that she passed away. Dave was a Section Boss at the cotton mill.[6]
1940-Census shows retired... no income or occupation, married to Catherine.[7]
David passed away Dec 1950[8]
