Biography
This profile is part of the Kirkland Name Study.
James Madison Kirkland was the 3rd child of Calvin and Charlotte. He lived a short life, dying at age 48.
He was first married on 4 Oct 1896 to Belle Purdy, who had been previously married and had two children. They had a daughter Thelma on 26 Sep 1897. Belle died prior to 1910. His daughter Thelma died on 26 May 1917.
He married on 28 Jul 1910 to Rebecca Alice Pruitt. They had a daughter Mildred. James died in Jan 1912; his daughter Mildred was born a few weeks later in March 1912. His widow had a son named James Harold Kirkland, and while James' death certificate names James M. Kirkland as his father, the dates don't mesh. Son James wasn't born until Dec 1914, almost three years after his named father James died...
