Williamina[1] (Minnie) Kirkland, daughter of John W Kirkland and Helen Easton, was born on 27 Feb 1860[2] in Kingston (now Rexton), Richibucto District, Kent County, New Brunswick, and lived there with her parents until her marriage.
On 29 Nov 1881, Minnie married Albert P. Prowse, son of Senator Samuel Prowse of Murray Harbour, PEI.[3] Albert was a prominent businessman in Murray Harbour, in the firm Prowse & Sons, and later followed his father into politics.
Minnie and Albert had eleven children, two of whom died in infancy. She died on 18 Dec 1938,[4] at the age of 78, and was buried in the People's Cemetery in Murray Harbour. She was survived by eight of her children. Her obituary appeared in the Charlottetown Guardian on17 Jan 1939.[5]
