Wilhelmina (Minnie) Kirkland, daughter of John W Kirkland and Helen Easton, was born on Feb 27, 1860 in Kingston (now Rexton), Richibucto District, Kent County, New Brunswick, and lived there with her parents until her marriage.
On Nov. 29, 1881, Minnie married Albert P. Prowse, son of Senator Samuel Prowse of Murray Harbour, PEI. Albert was a prominent businessman in Murray Harbour, in the firm Prowse & Sons, and later followed his father into politics.
Minnie and Albert had 10 children, one of whom died in infancy. She died on Dec 18, 1938, at the age of 78, and was buried in the People's Cemetery in Murray Harbour. She was survived by 8 of her children. Her obituary appeared in the Charlottetown Guardian on January 17, 1939.
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Minnie by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share DNA with Minnie:
