Leavinia[1] Kirkland was born on February 17, between 1844 and 1849[2] in Fredericton, New Brunswick.[3] She was the daughter of John Kirkland and Elizabeth Weeks. She married Alfred Kaye, about 1860[4] They lived in Waterville (Wakefield Parish), Carleton County, New Brunswick.
Research Notes
Some sources have her name as Leavinia Rebecca, but Rebecca Kirkland was married in 1854, so Lavinia and Rebecca are likely two separate people.
1861 Census shows her and Alfred Kaye listed as servants living with Arthur and Margaret McArthur of Wakefield, NB.
↑ Late registration of birth, issued in 1929, gives birth date as February 17, 1849. 1901 Census says February 17, 1847. Other sources (1871 to 1911 censuses) range from 1844 to 1846. An earlier birth year seems more likely as her first child was born in 1861. As well, she had siblings born in 1847 and 1849
