Kirkman family website: [1] A website on the family and descendants of the Kirkman family has a colorful description of Christian William Kirkman III, including his wives, Edith Elizabeth Foster and Anna Jelinek, and his children. [1]
Described as a 'lifelong railroader', he was initially a 'New York City trolley car motorman' and then worked for the Northern Pacific Railroad[1]
With his first wife, Edith Elizabeth Foster, he had one son, Christian William Kirkman IV b. 1906.[2]
He then married Anna Jelinek Fiala, and according to the Kirkman website, "legend holds Anna chased CWK III from New York to Minnesota and forced him to marry her at gunpoint."
Before chasing him down, Anna had first married Floran Fiala on October 24, 1896 in New York City [3] and had three living children from this marriage, Floran Frank? Fiala, Theodore (possibly named Bohumil Fiala at birth)[4] and George.[5]. This marriage ended in divorce. Sources needed.
The three Fiala boys were adopted by their new step-father and changed their names from Fiala to Kirkman.[1]
Christian William Kirkman III and Anna Jelinek Fiala Kirkman had one daughter, Elinor, and later adopted a fifth child, their grandson (Elinor's son), Charles W. "Bill" Roth. Charles W. "Bill" Roth apparently also changed his last name to Kirkman. [1]
Christian William Kirkman III passed away in 1950 in Williamson, New Jersey.[1]
