Note: Mr. Roger Lee "Rusty" Kirkman , 52 of Rockwell, passed away March 2, 2008 at the NorthEast Medical Center. Mr. Kirkman was born March 20, 1955 in Rowan County, son of the late Robert Eugene Kirkman, and Colleen Haywood Knight. He was educated in the Rowan County Schools, retired as an Automobile Mechanic and service technician for the Manufactured Homes Industries. Rusty was of the Baptist faith and was an avid fisherman. Survivors include his step-father, Barney W. Knight, of Rockwell, two brothers, Robert David Kirkman and Danny Joe Knight both of Rockwell; three sisters, Sandy Archer, Kim Wilkinson, and Wendy Knight all of Rockwell; two step-sisters, Peggy Clark of China Grove, and Judy Therrell of Kannapolis. A Memorial Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at "The Rock", conducted by the Rev. Scott Pace, Pastor. The family will receive friends at "The Rock" from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to "The Rock," 795 Cannon St. Rockwell, NC 28138 or to the American Heart Association, 222 S. Church St. Charlotte, NC 28202.
