Robert was born in 1778.[1]

An article written on the death of Robert Kirkpatrick's grandson, John Kirkpatrick states Robert's grandfather was Sir James Kirkpatrick. It does seem most likely that this family are descendants of the Kirkpatricks of Closeburn but currently the actual link has not been established. This relationship is not supported by any evidence.
