"Samuel Kirkpatrick, son of Benjamin and Jane Kirkpatrick was born in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, December 7, 1779. He married in Pennsylvania and had four children when he emigrated to Ohio in 1809. He settled on a tract of land in Wayne Township, Butler County, near Collinsville. Samuel was..... Barbara came from a family..... Samuel (and Barbara) spent the rest of (their lives) on this farm, rearing a large family and (Samuel) died at the age of seventy years on October 27, 1849." On October 29, 1802, days after Barbara Elliott's father's will was probated, she and Samuel Kirkpatrick were married at the Upper West Conococheague Presbyterian Church, Mercersburg, Franklin County, Pennsylvania. ^[2]
