Henry Horatio Kitchener was born on 19 October 1805, and christened on 17 December 1805 in Finsbury, London[1]. He was the son of William Kitchener and Emma Cripps.
Henry's marriage to Anne Chevallier was registered in Hartismere, Suffolk in the second quarter of 1845[2].
Henry was born the year of Nelson's victory at Trafalgar and was named 'Horatio' after him.
He was commissioned into the 13th Dragoons and the 9th and 29th Foot. He served in India but returned to purchase an estate in Ireland.
