Paternal relationship is confirmed through Y-chromosome DNA testing. Robert Kitching, FTDNA kit #B126723, and his 3rd cousin twice removed, C. K(itching), FTDNA kit #IN131941, son of Shaun Kitching who match at a Genetic Distance of 8 on 111 markers thereby confirming their direct paternal lines back to their MRCA John Kitching. (edit this next bit further): FTDNA indicates that the probability the two share a common ancestor between 1082AD and 1702AD is 95% and between 847-1796 is 99%) This is consistent with the known common ancestor John Kitching being born in 1792. Additionally both Robert Kitching and C. K(itching) have FTDNA BigY-700 test results showing that they are both I2a I-Y77887 (plus STR 700 marker match data) and have an average of one private SNPs each. Confidence: Extremely High.
