Caldonia was born in 1889. She was the daughter of Thomas Kittle and Amanda Mitchem. Her first marriage to Mr. Bailey was short. The 1910 Census shows Caldonia Bailey, age 21, enumerated in the household of her brother James Monroe. She had been married 2 years and had no children by 1910. Also in James Monroe's household, Leola Stewart, age 8, daughter of Victoria "Vick" Kittle and William Stewart.
Next door is brother Lewis Thomas Kittle's house. Enumerated there, Lillar Stewart, age 12. The orphaned girls lived with their uncles families. Their father William Stewart was killed about 1902-1905.
