Hjalmar Kjellin was born in 1872[1] as the son and first child of Carl August Kjellin and Sofia Bräcke in Nyhyttan, Norberg parish, and lived there until 1879[2] when his father changed jobs. After that, the family spent one year in Haraker, Västmanland,[3] and one in Enköping[4][5] before moving to Ockelbo parish. Unfortunately, most of the church records of Ockelbo were destroyed in a fire in 1904, but from at least 1890 (and most likely already from 1881) he lived at Wij ironworks where his father worked as manager.[6][7] In 1892 he left home and moved back to Norberg,[8] where he worked for seven years[9] as a bookkeeper for the mining administration. After that he became an accountant at Lovers bruk in Södra Möckleby parish, Öland (Kalmar county), where he stayed until retirement.[10][11][12][13] In 1910 he married Signe Kreij,[14] and they had two daughters, Britta and Barbro. In 1941 they moved to Gävle,[15] where he passed away in 1957.[16]
