Biography

John Klapperich was born in Marshfield, Wisconsin on 25 March 1881, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Michael Klapperich. He attended school at Kloten and had lived in the Chilton community for 72 years. He was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church, Chilton, and the Holy Name Society of the parish. On 10 March 1912, he married the former Magdalene Portmann at Whapeton, North Dakota. John and Magdalene were the parents of three children, a son and two daughters. Magdalene died on 4 June 1923. John then married widow Margaret Wettstein nee Hoffmann on 10 November 1942. Mr. Klapperich farmed in the towns of Stockbridge and Brothertown until 1942 when he moved to Chilton. John P. Klapperich died at the Alexian Brothers Hospital in Oshkosh.
