Kurfürstentum, Köln, Duitsland: The Archbishopric of Cologne used to be a medieval member state of the Holy Roman Empire. Germany as a nation state only came into existence in 1871. The modern name from where he originated is spelled Oedt, and is about 70km northwest of the city of Cologne, fairly close to the modern Dutch border.
