Biography

Volga German
Katharina Kleiber was a Volga German.
Katharina Kleiber has German Roots.

Family #26 in the 1775 Grimm census. Family #26 in the Appendix of the 1798 Grimm census.

1775 Grimm Census [1]

Family # 26
Head of the Household Jakob Kleiber [?], age 38
Wife Maria Katharina Kleiber, age 35
Child #1 Johann Wendel Kleiber, age 10
Child #2 Johann Gottfried Kleiber, age 1
Child #3 Anna Margaretha Kleiber, age 6 years 6 months
Child #4 Maria Katharina Kleiber, age 4

According to a note in the Appendix of the 1798 Grimm census, her mother, the widow Katharina Klaiber, remarried in Dinkel and took her Maria Katharina with her to Dinkel, along with her brother Gottfried and her sister Louisa. Her sister Anna Margaretha married Johann Michael Kaltenberger and stayed behind in Grimm. [2] I checked the 1798 Dinkel census, and while Gottfried is listed there, his mother and two sisters are not. [3] The Johannes Kleiber in the 1798 Norka census, family #Nr094, is too old to be a child of Jakob and Maria Kleiber, but he may have been a relative, such as a cousin or uncle to Gottfried and his siblings.[3] There is no mention of brother Wendel, either in Grimm or Dinkel.
