When Louis registered for the draft under the question "Do you claim exemption from draft" he said "Liked[sic] to stay home." [2]
By 1942 the family had moved from Kansas to Illinois, where he had a contracting business, based on the WWII draft registration. [3]
He passed away in 1950 and is buried in the Roberts Cemetery, Morton, Tazewell County, Illinois. [4]

Louis Henry Klein Dies at Residence This Morning
Morton, Dec. 18, 1950
Louis Henry Klein, Rt. 5, East Peoria, died at 9:45 a.m. today in his
residence. The body was taken to the Ludwig mortuary in Morton pending
funeral arrangements.
Surviving are his wife and following children: Wayland Klein, Pekin; Mrs.
Robert McLaughlin, Thomas Ivan, and Robert E. Klein all of Morton; Mrs.
Thomas Gideon, St. Marys, Kansas; Ted L. Klein Creve Coeur and Harold L.
Klein; East Peoria.
Also surviving are eight grandchildren and a sister Mrs. William Anderson,
Kansas City, Kansas.
