Buried in Grand View Burial Park, Hannibal, Ralls County, Missouri.

Obituary: Brenda L. Sparks, 71, of Hannibal, Missouri, passed away at 10:18 AM Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at Hannibal Regional Hospital in Hannibal, MO.

Friends and Family are invited to Brenda’s Life Celebration at a visitation that will be held from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Monday, October 15, 2018 at the James O'Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal, MO.

Graveside Services and Burial will be at 10:00 AM Saturday, October 20, 2018 at Grand View Burial Park in Hannibal, MO. Rev. Steve Goughnour will officiate.

Brenda was born March 28, 1947, in Shelbina, MO to James Morris and Ruby Belle Blurton Klein.

She was married to Larry Sparks on November 22, 1968 at the Prairie View Baptist Church in Hunnewell, MO. He survives. This November Brenda and Larry would have been married 50 years.

Other survivors include two children, Stacy Nelson (Ray) of Maywood, MO and Scott Sparks (Debbie) of Kansas City, KS, two sisters, Becky Sparks (Mike) of Chesterfield, MO, Dena Geist of Jefferson City, MO, four grandchildren, Brian Sparks, Keegan Sparks, Kamryn Sparks, and Collin Nelson and one great grandchild, Jesse Sparks. Also surviving are nieces and nephews.

Brenda is preceded in death by her parents and a brother in law, Scott Geist.

A 1965 graduate of Monroe City High School Brenda began her professional career as a waitress in Monroe City at the Dairy Queen and also the Deluxe Café. Later Brenda went on to enjoy a long career at H & R Block where she worked as a tax preparer for over 33 years before retiring in 2010.

Away from work Brenda enjoyed collecting. Some of her favorite collections included postcards, owl figurines, shot glasses and Longaberger Baskets. Brenda enjoyed life’s simple pleasures, watching her much loved Christmas movies on the Hallmark Channel or the QVC Shopping Channel. A talented cook, Brenda loved to prepare meals for her family. The music of the 1950’s and 1960’s were some of Brenda’s most beloved, especially the “Doo-Wop” sounds of the 50’s, with Elvis being one of her favorite performers. Brenda was also a member of the Mark Twain Corvette Club. Most of all however, Brenda cherished most the moments she shared with her family and friends.
