Patricia, I see that you just did the Pre-1700 Self-Certification. That's great! Is there a particular time period, location, or topic you're interested in? Maybe you have some historically-significant ancestors? Participation in a project is strongly encouraged for those wishing to edit Pre-1700 profiles. You appear to have several interests. Why don't you stop by the Project List (https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Projects to see how you can participate? Let me know if you need help with anything. We are glad to have you on board!
Hello Patricia, and welcome to WikiTree! The initial email from us has helpful links that will get you started on WikiTree, which is not like any genealogy site youve ever used.
WikiTree is different because our goal is to have one profile per person, and that means we all work together as a BIG collaborative team!
When you confirm your email address, youll have an opportunity to become a member of WikiTree. Just add a Tag for each family surname or location you are researching. Then click the Post Tags and Volunteer button. (information on Tags can be found at http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Tags). One of our Greeters will be happy to confirm your membership.
WikiTree is an exciting and growing community and we are really glad you decided to join us.

Now that you have had a little time to try WikiTree, there are a few more features you may find useful.
Ideas on what to include in a profile can be found in Styles and Standards, including some tips on writing biographies.
If you need to describe an event, an heirloom or a location relevant to your research, you may like to learn about Free Space Profiles.
Lastly, sometimes you'll run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving those unfortunate situations.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask via my profile page.

You are now a Hager/Eckert/Helwig twig on a branch of our great big ole shared tree, thank you for volunteering!
We have a Question of the Week posted in our Genealogist-To-Genealogist (G2G) forum if you'd like to jump in and answer it, just click Honoring USA Independence Day - Were any of your ancestors on the "wrong side" in a war?
Have fun and ask for help if you need it! WikiTree members are always eager to offer guidance to a fellow family historian/genealogist.
If you need additional help, our Mentors Project is a friendly bunch of volunteers who will be glad to assist you with WikiTree-specific problems.
See you in the branches --
Mags
You have your tags a bit backwards - you would want to put the event as a tag - American Revolution...rather than listing it in a tag called events.
Mags.
