William was born in 1882. He passed away after 1942.
While earning a degree from the University of Illinois, William was a football player and a hurdler for their track team. He was the Head Football Coach at Nebraska Wesleyan College from 1911 to 1918 finishing with a 37–18–3 record. He moved accross town to the University of Nebraska for the 1919 season. He was preceded by E J Stewart and followed by Henry Schulte. He taught Law at the University of Flodia from 1919 to 1923 where he was also the Head Football Coach in 1920, 1921 and 1923. He returned to Nebraska where he was the Head Basketball Coach for the 1923 and 1924 seasons.
He wrote several books on coaching.
