Biography

[1]Johann Hans Peter Kleinfelter/Klinefelter, son of Hans Georg Kleinfelter and Margaretha Reinhardt, was born April 2, 1702 in Florsbach, Hessen (now Baden-Wurttemberg), Germany. Eva Elisabeth/Elisabetha Kunkel/Kunckel, daughter of Johann Sebastian Kunkel and Anna Catharina Sarner, was born September 29, 1703 in Florsbach. She was baptized September 29, 1703 in Florsbach. Johann Hans Peter, age 22, and Eva Elisabeth, age 20, married June 12/16/21, 1724 in Florsbach or Kempfenbrunn, Hesse-Hanau (now Baden-Wurttemberg), Germany. Johann Hans Peter was a farmer. Johann Hans Peter and Eva Elisabeth, with their children, Johannes George Kleinfelter, Eva Elisabeth Kleinfelter, Johann Michael Kleinfelter, Johannes Kleinfelter, and Lorenz Kleinfelter, came to the United States on the ship "Duke of Bedford", from Rotterdam, via Portsmouth, England, arriving at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on September 14, 1751 (List C at the courthouse at Philadelphia). They were required to take the oath of allegiance to George II, King of Great Britain. The ship's master was Richard Jefferys. Johann Hans Peter and Eva Elisabeth's children, Elizabeth Kleinfelter and Melchior Kleinfelter, came to the United States before them, on the ship "Priscilla", from Rotterdam, arriving September 12, 1750, and settled at Maiden Creek, Berks County, Pennsylvania. In Germany, Elizabeth Kleinfelter had 2 children out of wedlock: Johannes, born July 10, 1749 and Anna Katharina, born Kay 5, 1750. One of the children died in Germany and she brought the other one with her to the United States. The father of the children, Johann Michael Hohman/Hofmann/Hohmann/Homan came to the United States later, on the ship "John and Elisabeth", arriving November 7, 1754. Elisabeth Kleinfelter and Johann Michael Hohman were married before February, 1755 in Moselem, Berks County, Pennsylvania, a few miles from Maiden Creek, and settled in York County, Pennsylvania. Johann Hans Peter's brother, Johannes Kleinfelter, came to the United States later, in 1754, on the ship "Barclay". Johann Hans Peter and Eva Elisabeth had 445 Gulden when they landed. They settled in York County, Pennsylvania or the Allemangel region of Berks County, Pennsylvania. Johann Hans Peter died after August 29, 1757 in Berks County, Pennsylvania, after age 55. Eva Elisabeth died in 1754 or after August 29, 1757 in Berks County, Pennsylvania after age 50. They had:

Research Notes

The German naming convention at the time was to provide only one given name. When there are two names, the first was often a "Christian name," given at the time of baptism. What is now considered the "middle name," is the actual given name. In southern Germany, all boys in a family were often given the same Christian name, Johan(n). This is not to be confused with Johannes, which was a given name and equivalent to John.

Need to add Klinefelter-409 as a child of Hans Peter Klinefelter. This is their third child by that name who lived to adulthood after the prior two died in infancy.

I've added him as his child. It looks like there are wives and bio's attached to the other Michael's that need to be moved.

As for LNAB - Rupp's book shows spelling of Kelinsteller (https://archive.org/stream/collectionofupwa00ruppuoft#page/252/mode/2up/search/kleinfelder) which probably represents a mangled transcription.

Geogen search shows no hits for Kleinfelter, but numerous for Kleinfelder, with greatest concentration in Rhineland-Palatinante/Hesse border area.

Entering Klinefelter and Geogen asks: Do you mean Kleinfelder?

So Kleinfelder appears to be correct spelling.

Kleinfelder-4 and Klinefelter-70 appear to represent the same person because: Everything matches pretty closely. Needs LNAB before completing merge.
