Jacob's first wife was Elisabeth (Bellinger) Klock (1717-1763). They were married about 1745 in New York, Elizabeth Bellinger was born in 1717 in Germantown, Columbia, New York, USA. She died on 17 Mar 1763 in Schoharie, Schoharie, New York, USA.

Jacob and Elizabeth Klock had the following children,

  • Elisabeth (Klock) Osterhput (abt.1747-)
  • Jacob Klock II (abt.1750-abt.1791)
  • Adam Klock (1751-1823) was born on 23 Mar 1751 in St Johnsville, Montgomery, New York, USA. He married Catherine Stauring in 1773 in Stone Arabia, Montgomery, New York, USA. She was born on 20 Sep 1753 in Manheim, Herkimer, New York, USA. She died on 10 Jan 1841 in Manheim, Herkimer, New York, USA. Adam Klock died on October 12, 1823, in Manheim, Herkimer, New York, USA, Burial: Snells Bush Cemetery, Manheim Center, Herkimer County, New York, USA

Jacob Klock's 2nd wife was Catharina (Nellis) Klock (1724-1805), her 3rd husband. They were married about 1766 in New York. No children.

Jacob Klock was a Col, in the Revolutionary War. He was Commander of the 2nd Regiment Tryon Cty Militia. He was Col. of the Tryon County Militia 2nd Regiment. His name is on the shaft erected on the battlefield at Oriskany. The Battle of Oriskany occurred on August 6, 1777, when the local Tryon County Militia attempted to come to the relief of the besieged Fort Schuyler (Stanwix). On July 30, 1777, the militia's commander, General Nicholas Herkimer, ordered his men to begin assembling at Fort Dayton (located in the modern Herkimer area). By August 4, around 800 of the militia were assembled and ready to begin the march to relieve Ft. Schuyler. The militia brigade was composed of four regiments, mostly of Palatine German immigrants or descendants: The 1st (Canajoharie) Regiment under Col. Ebenezer Cox, and the 2nd (Palatine) Regiment under Col. Jacob Klock, the 3rd (Mohawk) Regiment under Col. Fredrick Visscher, and the 4th (Kingsland-German Flatts) Regiment under Col. Peter Bellinger.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Jacob by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Jacob:

The SAR and DAR list his birth as 08 Oct 1708

Date shown is purported to be from Jones, pg. 289, which I would accept over DAR or SAR. Only problem is that Jones does not actually offer any date for jacob's birth. See https://www.ancestry.com/imageviewer/collections/62327/images/i1526409-00353?ssrc=&backlabel=Return

So I'd say go ahead and change it.
