Biography

Richard Knaggs son of William Knaggs and his wife, Jane Coultas was baptised at All Saints, Brompton by Sawdon in Yorkshire, North Riding, England, on 7 July 1738.^[1][2]

According to official records, he was buried on 6 January 1738.^[3]But the parish was operating, like the rest of England at the time, on the Julian Calendar so while Richard was born in July 1738, and his burial was recorded on 6 January 1738, his burial in today's terms would be January 1739 based on the Gregorian Calendar (ref: England Calendar Changes 1752).

He was buried 6 months after he was baptised.
