DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Moses by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
Y-chromosome DNA test-takers in his direct paternal line on WikiTree:
I'm going to suggest that there are at least two people conflated into these two profiles. Each profile references the other as another child in the families.
I have a similar situation with two gents in my one-name study. I've gone back to the beginning on each of them and cannot determine in most cases what events 'belong' to which person.
There are so many possible situations here, a nephew living with the family - both names Moses, a set of twins with different middle names. Children were moved from family to family, normally related but not always so and I'm sure most of us have found an unknown child living with our families.
The reason for this diatribe is that I think we need to do either of two things:
1) Someone needs to take this mess and straighten it out ... hopefully in a manner that we all can agree on.
2) Decide that given the information available, we can't deconflate (is that a word?) them.
3) Determine what information is unique to which individual with sufficient supporting information. Then note for each of them what information MAY relate to them but can't be satisfactorily determined.
Knapp-5989 and Knapp-1089 appear to represent the same person because: Other than the death date, the information is the same on these two individuals.
Furthermore, Knapp-1089 shows the death date as 17 Jul 1751, sourcing Nicholas Knapp genealogy, Page 32 but in review of the source, the death date is listed as 9 Jun 1787, matching the death date listed in Knapp-5989.
Nope! There are, in this generation 2 Moses Knapps. I've thought that very odd since I first ran into this family.
Moses Knapp 1709-1787
Moses Knapp 1709-1751
If you look at both profiles they show the other Moses ... someone with more knowledge of the family needs to take a closer look.
As we get back into the 1600's things get even weirder so I think it's time to put our collective heads together and straighten this out now.
Knapp-5989 and Knapp-1089 are not ready to be merged because: There are 2 generations of Moses Knapp. It is difficult for me to read and delve into the research on this profile that is confused with each other. Any help would be appreciated (and in large print please.)
Knapp-4645 and Knapp-1089 appear to represent the same person because: Same father (Dup will set for merge). Same spouse (dup will set for merge), same birth year, no sources for death year on -4645. please merge
Knapp-2807 and Knapp-1089 are not ready to be merged because: There is too little information on Knapp-2807. Please research and update request for merge.
I just adopted the other file and removed Jemima. The two profiles are confused together and need to be researched to separate the two. Who Married Who, and which children belongs to each. Any help would be appreciated, for this is not one line that I am currently researching.
Do we know that the Moses Knapp who married Jemima Mead was the identical man who married Sarah Warner?
I wonder about the dates and places. His youngest son was born on April 14, 1750 at Stamford, and the Sarah Warner marriage was May 29, 1750 at New Milford, Litchfield.
