In 1850 she was age 14 living with her parents on the farm in Amherst County.[3] In 1860 she was age 23, still living with her parents in Amherst County.[4]
She married S. Cyrus H. Paxton, the son of Samuel Paxton and Susan, on 4 Nov 1862 in Amherst County.[5] He was born in Rockbridge County, Virginia in March 1833 and died 11 Jun 1864 near Richmond, Virginia.[6]
In 1870 she was living with her brother Stephen at the family farm in the Temperance District of Amherst County, Virginia.[7]
In 1880 she was age 39 living in Lynchburg with her sister Althea, Althea’s husband Elisha P Smiley, and their children Samuel, William, and James.[8]
On 1 May 1888 she applied for a Civil War widow's pension in Lunenburg, Virginia stating that her spouse, Lieut Cyrus Paxton died on 11 Jun 1864 in Lynchburg, Virginia from the loss of his left arm in the battle of ?? bluff (likely Cold Harbor), and that she had not remarried.[9]
In 1900 she was living with her brother Stephen at the family farm in the Temperance District of Amherst County, Virginia.[10]
She died 11 Nov 1918[11] at 6:15 PM at her home in Amherst County.[12] There is a rose from her funeral in the family bible; she might be buried in the old Knight farm burial ground.
