Biography

James Marion[1][2][3][4] Knight was born 13 Dec 1846[5] in Alabama to Charner Hopson Knight and Tabitha Emeline Franklin.[6][7]

He first married Dulcenia Jane Adams on 12 Jun 1865 in Jefferson County, Alabama[8][9] and the couple had the following known children:

  1. Lyda Knight was born 08 May 1870, died 31 May 1930 in Fairfield, Jefferson County, Alabama and was buried in Oak Grove Cemetery.[10]

He then married Frances A. McLain on 01 Jan 1874 in Jefferson County, Alabama[11][12] and the couple had the following known children:

  1. Andrew Monroe Knight was born about 1875 and died 27 Apr 1850 in Birmingham, Jefferson County, Alabama.[3]
  2. William O. Knight was born 10 Jan 1878 at Oak Grove, Jefferson County, Alabama, died 11 Sep 1929 at Bessemer, Jefferson County, Alabama and was buried in Concord Cemetery.[4]
  3. Rhoda Magdelene E. Knight was born 26 Jan 1881 in Oak Grove, Jefferson County, Alabama, died 16 Mar 1946 at Blue Creek, Jefferson County, Alabama and was buried in Oak Grove First Baptist Cemetery, Oak Grove, Jefferson County, Alabama.[13][14][15]
  4. John S. Knight was born in Jefferson County, Alabama 12 Dec 1882, died 02 Oct 1942 in Bessemer, Jefferson County, Alabama and was buried in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Bessemer.[2]
  5. James M. Knight was born Nov 1886 in Alabama.[16]
  6. Martha E. Knight was born Dec 1888 in Alabama.[16]

On 29 Oct 1879 a notice of an Administrator's sale for the estate of Charner H. Knight to be held 15 Nov 1879 by James M. Knight, Administrator, his son, appeared in the Birmingham newspaper announcing the sale of lands in sections 3, 4, 9, and 10 in Township 17 Range 7W in Walker County, Alabama.[17]

On 10 Dec 1879 a second announcement of an Administrator's sale appeared in the Birmingham newspaper, said sale to occur on 27 Dec 1879 for the sale of lands in Township 17 Range 7W, Walker County, Alabama property of the estate of Charner H. Knight, deceased.[18]

James died 12 May 1889 and was buried in Oak Grove First Baptist Cemetery, Oak Grove, Jefferson County, Alabama.[5]
