Biography

Garland Martin Knight was born 12 January 1937 in Luray, Page County, Virginia, USA. He was the son of James Knight and Virginia Bell Foltz. He had an older sister Anna Belle Knight.

1940s

On 16 Apr 1940, Garland Knight (3) lived in Marksville magisterial district, Page County with his father James (31), mother Virginia (25), and sister Annabelle (7). Their monthly rent was $4. They were white and born in Virginia. In April 1935, the family lived in rural Page County. James's highest grade of education completed was 4th and worked 60 hours the previous week as a farm labor; his 1939 salary in 20 weeks was $160. Virginia finished 5th grade and was a homemaker. Note, Annabelle's and Garland's ages appear to be swapped although it is difficult to read since the enumerator wrote different numbers over each other in the age box. ^[1]

On 10 May 1941, his sister Margaret Marie Knight was born in Virginia.

1950s

In the early 1950s, his sister Anna Belle Knight married J Edward Wright in Hagerstown, Washington County, Maryland. ^[2]

On 2 Jul 1955, Garland Martin Knight (18) married Anna May Price (19) in Stanley, Page County. Garland was white, single, worked as a farmer, born in Page County, son of James Knight and Virginia Bell Foltz, and resided in Luray. Anna white, single, worked at home, born in Page County, daughter of Elmer D Price and Thelma Marie Rhinehart, and resided in Luray. They were married by J E Tucker, minister of the Baptist church. ^[3]

In the mid 1950s, his daughter A S Knight was born in Virginia. ^[4]

On 20 Oct 1962, his sister Margaret Marie Knight (21) married Melvin Lee Shenk (25) in Luray. In the mid 1970s, his daughter A S Knight (<21) married L M Bosley (20s) in Page County. Mr Bosley was born in Virginia, white, single, high school graduate, resided in Stanley with a Post Office box, and the son of Louis Lester Bosley and Barbara Allen Wood. Ms Knight was born in Virginia, white, single, high school graduate, resided at Route 3 Box 325 in Luray, and the daughter of Garland Martin Knight and Anna Mae Price. They were married by O L Martin, ordained minister of the Disciples of Christ church. ^[4]

In the mid 1970s, his sister Anna Belle Wright (43) married C E Breeden (30s) in Rockingham County. Mr Breeden was white, single, a high school graduate, lived at Rt1 Box 61 in Grottoes, born in Virginia, and the son of Dorsey O Breeden and Alma May. Ms Wright was white, divorced from her first marriage, finished one year of high school, lived in Grottoes, born 30 Aug 1932 in Virginia, and the daughter of Jame and Virginia Foltz Knight. They were married by Robert L Woodson, minister of a Protestant church. ^[9]

In the mid 1970s, his daughter C M Knight (<21) married M E Kiblinger (20s) in Stanley. Mr Kiblinger was born in Virginia, white, single, finished one year of high school, resided at 129 High Street in Luray, and the son of Junior Willard Kiblinger and Betty Lou Price. Ms Knight was born in Virginia, white, single, finished two years of high school, resided at Route 3 Box 325 in Luray, and the daughter of Garland Martin Knight and Anna Mae Price. They were married by J E Tucker, reverend of the Baptist church. ^[6]

On 26 Apr 1977, his father James Knight (69) died at Page Memorial Hospital in Luray from cardiac arrest due to arteriosclerotic heart disease with contributing cerebral vascular accident.. He was white, married to Virginia Foltz Knight, resided at RFD#3 outside Luray, and worked as a farmer. He was born 15 Dec 1907 in Virginia, the son of John W Knight and Lucy Blosser, and had no middle name. The informant of his death was his wife Virginia F Knight. The Bradley Funeral Home provided services and he was buried at Adventist Cemetery in Stanley. ^{[10] [11]}

In the late 1970s, his son Garland Gene Knight (19) married J A Spain (<21) in Page County. Mr Knight was born 22 Jul 1958 in Virginia, white, single, finished one year of high school, resided at Route 3 Box 325 in Luray, and the son of Garland Martin Knight and Anna Mae Price. Ms Spain was born in Virginia, white, single, finished three years of high school, resided with Garland, and the daughter of Billy Jerome Spain and Rena Mae Gray. They were married by O L Martin, ordained minister of the Disciples of Christ church. ^[5]

1980s

On 24 Oct 1980, his mother Virginia Belle Knight (65) died at Page Memorial Hospital from myocardial infarction. She was white, resided at RFD#3 outside Luray, widowed from her marriage to James Knight, and retired from working at a poultry plant. She was born 14 Jan 1915 in Virginia and the daughter of George Clyde Foltz and Dessie Florence Aleshire. The informant of her death was her daughter Margaret M Shenk. The Bradley Funeral Home provided services and she was buried at Adventist Cemetery. ^{[12] [13]}

In the mid 1980s, his son G W Knight (<21) married R L Blosser (<21) in Page County. Mr Knight was born in Virginia, white, single, high school graduate, resided at Route 3 Box 325 in Luray, and the son of Garland Martin Knight and Anna Mae Price. Ms Blosser was born in Virginia, white, single, high school graduate, resided at Route 2 Box 644 in Stanley, and the daughter of Guy Denver Blosser and Eveline Blanche Cubbage. They were married by Rev Andrew Laslo, ordained miniser of the Church of Brethren. ^[8]

In the late 1980s, his sister Anna Belle Breeden married V L Walker.

2010s
