Biography
Presley was born in 1779. He passed away in 1860. [1]
Is on 1820 Gwinnett County, GA Census near Isaac Knight (brother?) and has wife and seven children (5 males and 2 females). He is then on Carroll County, GA census for 1830 and 1840 and his name appears frequently in book (Carroll Co.) on Inferior Court Minutes, buying/selling land, Grand Jury duty.
He was a Coroner in 1835, etc. His second wife, Peggy Hill Clayton, was widow of Samuel Clayton. In May 1841, he is guardian of Lucious F. Clayton, orphan of Samuel Clayton. In the late 1840's the Knights moved from Carroll County, Ga. to adjoining Randolph Co., AL, and Presley is on 1850 Census there as head of household with Green Knight and his family and is age 71 and either died or moved again by 1860 Census. He is listed on probate records as son of George Knight who d.1802 in Union Co. S.C. Other siblings listed are: Isaac, Jackson Co., GA, Nancy and Winney Knight.
