1939 Oct 23 Singleton Argus: DEATH OF MRS H KNIGHT OF ROUCHEL, ABERDEEN.

The death occurred recently at Aberdeen of Mrs Ellen Knight at the age of 87 years. Born in England she came to Australia with her parents, Mr and Mrs Gardner, when aged 12 months old, and settled in the Singleton district. In 1874 she married Mr Harry Knight who predeceased her some 19 years ago, and went to reside at the Rouchel, where she has since resided 42 years ago. The old lady who had a wonderfully good memory and could converse clearly on long ago happenings, had taken to bed only five weeks previously. She had 10 children all of whom survive her, namely Messrs Harry [Quirindi; William [Glennies Creek]; Jack [Broke]; George [Rouchel] and Thomas [[McGully's gap]. Mesdames W lambkin [Belford; S Everest [Aberdeen]; G Lambkin {broke]; J Vine [Curlewis] and D Wilson [Aberdeen]. She is also survived by two sisters and two brothers, Mrs C Rowland [Bengalla] and Mrs M Parmeter [Sydney] and Mr G Gardner [Dunolly] and Mr H Gardner [Carrowbrook]. There are also a great number of grandchildren and great grandchildren. Messrs John Knight [Hebden] and Les Knight [Bulga] are grandsons. The remains were laid to rest beside those of her late husband in the Church of England portion of the Aberdeen cemetery. The funeral was large and representative of all parts of the district, Rev A Mackinlay conducted the service at the graveside. Many beautiful floral tributes were a token of the respect and esteem in which the deceased was held by the community.
