It can take a bit of time to clean a gedcom and make sure the profiles are sourced. You might want to take a look at the Help Index under the Help tab at the top of the page for info on Gedcoms and Sources.
Also don't neglect to follow the link in the message below and here How to Start Climbing Our Tree. Can be really useful.
