Malinda Knight was born July 18, 1811, in South Carolina. Malinda was the daughter of Abner Knight and Margaret Barker.
Malinda married Reuben Robertson sometime before 1832 in South Carolina. Married by the Reverend Tolliver Robertson ("An Account of Marriages Solemnized by Tolaver Robertson in South Carolina," Pg 12 and Pg 13).
Malinda and Reuben Robertson were living in Jefferson county, Alabama by late 1834, as Reuben Robertson obtained a land patent on the 15th November 1834 for 80 29/100's acre of land in Jefferson county, Alabama legally described as the W1/2 SE 1/4 Section 8 Township 19 South Range 6 West. Reuben paid $1.25 per acre for the land for a total purchase money of $100.36. Reuben received Certificate #11828 for the land on the 20th March 1837.[1]

Reuben's household appears as follows: Reuben age 42, born South Carolina; Malinda age 40, born South Carolina; Manoah (male) age 16, born Alabama; Caroline age 14, born Alabama; Martha age 13, born Alabama; Henry age 11, born Alabama; Marion age 9, born Alabama; Elias age 7, born Alabama; Mary Ann age 5, born Alabama; Margaret M. age 4, born Alabama; and Jesse J. age 6 months, born Alabama.[3]

Malinda appears in the 1880 Federal census in Jefferson county, Alabama in the household of her husband Reuben. Reuben's household appears as follows: Reuben age 70; Malinda age 68; Martha age 40; Margaret M. age 31; and Tolliver age 29.[6]
Malinda died on May 8, 1881, in Jefferson County, Alabama. Malinda was buried in the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery, Hueytown, Jefferson County, Alabama.[7]
