Mary was born in 1670, Anne Arundel, Maryland, she died June 7, 1737, Herring Creek, Anne Arundel, Maryland. She is the daughter of Thomas Knighton and Dinah Battee.

Mary Knighton was married twice. Her first husband was Richard Harwood, they married about 1692, and were the parents of four children. Richard died in 1711.

Mary's 2nd husband was Joseph Jones, they were married on October 22, 1712. [1]

Mary is mentioned in the will of her father, Thomas Knighton, dated August 12, 1684, probated April 28, 1693. "To daus. MARY, Eliza, and Millicent, personalty; daus. to be of age at 18 yrs."[2]
Mary is mentioned in the will of her grandfather, Fardinando Battee, dated December 21, 1705, probated April 2, 1706: "to 5 grandchild., viz., Thomas Knighton, Samuel Battee, Samuell Smith, MARY HARWOOD and Elizabeth Simmons, personalty."[3]
