Biography

On 2 Jan 1920 at the time of the 1920 US Census, head of household C.E. Knott (age 29, born in IL) was employed as a Store Keeper at a Grocery Store and living in a home he rented at 160 East 79th Street North, Portland, Oregon with his wife, Gertrude Knott (age 28, born in KS); daughter Caroline Knott (age 6, born in OR); daughter Gladys Knott (age 5, born in OR); and brother-in-law Victor Johnson (age 27, born in KS), employed as a Salesman at a Grocery Store. Both of C.E.'s parents were born in Germany; both of Gertrude's parents were born in Sweden. ^[1]

On 9 Apr 1930 at the time of the 1930 US Census, head of household Charles E. Knott (age 45, born in IL) was employed as a General Contractor and living at a home he owned valued at $6,500 at 24 East 81st Street in Portland, Oregon with his wife, Gertrude Knott (age 39, born in KS); daughter Caroline M. Knott (age 16, born in OR); and daughter Gladys E. Knott (age 15, born in OR). Charles was 27 years old when first married; Gertrude was 22 years old when first married. Both of Charles's parents were born in Germany; both of Gertrude's parents were born in Sweden. ^[2]
