Biography

Rebecca Knowles, daughter of Samuel Knowles (1651-1737) was born about the middle of March 1690 in Eastham, Plymouth Colony. Her mother was Mercy (Freeman) Knowles (1659-bef.1745).[1]

Thomas and Rebecca (Knowles) Wetherel had the following (9) children:[3]

  1. Rebecca, born 1 December 1713; married James Easdell and William Davis
  2. Thomas, born 31 July 1715; married Elizabeth Lothrop
  3. William, born 6 March 1718; married Rebecca Harris
  4. James, born 31 August 1720; died 1745, no children
  5. Mary, born 5 June 1722; married Thomas Mayhew
  6. John, born 13 May 1725; married Sarah Cramdon
  7. Mercy, born 14 June 1727; married Thomas Foster, Jr.
  8. Lemuel, born 2 September 1729; died October 1738
  9. Hannah, born 5 August 1732; died 10 June 1736

Probate

Rebecca died intestate and on 8 December 1755, Thomas Mayhew of Plymouth was granted the administration of her estate.[4]

Her inventory was taken on 19 January 1756 in Plymouth.[5]

In 1770, an account of her estate by Thomas Wetherell was recorded which included repairs to the house, debts paid, doctor, gravestones to be bought, and administration fees.[6]
