Thomas was born on 2nd July 1863 at 6, Mitre Street, Gloucester City, Gloucestershire.[1] I have a copy of his Birth Certificate in my possession.
Name
Parker or Knowles?
Thomas was registered as Thomas Knowles Parker and the ref is 3rd Q 1863 Gloucester RD 6a 231. Hannah, his mother, is listed in the 1871 census as being unmarried - this may be true, but also possibly that she was widowed at the time.
After getting the birth certificate it turned out that Thomas's father is Charles Parker. Hannah is stated as Hannah Parker formerly Morton
At some time, basically not known, Thomas Knowles Parker became Thomas Parker Knowles. This may have been because a prior sibling Reuben John is registered as Knowles and at that time (1858) she was calling herself Hannah Knowles formerly Morton.
1871 Residence
'Census Night'
When the 1871 census was taken on the night of 2 April 1871[2] Thomas was in the Gloucester Workhouse with his mother Hannah, now calling herself Knowles, his brother Frederick Harry (Harry) also a child of Charles Parker and Reuben John Knowles child of Hannah and an unspecified Knowles.
1886 Marriage
Thomas Parker Knowles was married to Elizabeth Malbut (aka Eliza Sophia Malbut or Elizabeth Sophie Malbut) on 13th June, 1886 at Birmingham, Warwickshire, England.[3]
